Choosing a spread
Match the shape of the spread to the kind of question you are asking.
Three-card reading
Use three cards for quick direction, a daily check-in, or a first pass on a complicated topic.
Common frames include past-present-future, situation-action-outcome, and mind-body-spirit. Keep the frame simple so the contrast between cards stays clear.
Five-Card Cross
Use Five-Card Cross when you are weighing a decision. It is useful for questions with two visible paths, a hidden constraint, and a likely near-term result.
This spread is direct. If the question is emotionally loaded, write the exact decision before drawing cards so the reading does not drift.
Magic Seven
Use Magic Seven when the question has layers: motive, obstacle, timing, outside influence, and a longer arc.
The layout is best for relationship dynamics, career transitions, creative blocks, or any situation where the answer depends on several forces moving at once.
Open table
Use an open table when you already laid cards physically and want Oniro to interpret the spread as-is. Add notes for any custom meanings you assigned to the positions.
When to keep it smaller
If you cannot summarize the question in one sentence, choose fewer cards. A larger spread does not fix a vague question; it usually makes the reading harder to use.
